At Hockey Power & Edge, we strive to positively impact the lives of hockey players and encourage their development as both athletes and people.
Coach Elizabeth
Elizabeth Thornton has been coaching in the Rochester area for over 15 years. She is a U.S. Figure Skating quadruple gold medalist and specializes in coaching skating skills, ice dance, and hockey power and edge.
Elizabeth’s professional accreditations and affiliations include:
U.S. Figure Skating Coach Core Certification
U.S. Figure Skating Coach ICE member

Hockey Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 Certificates

Away from the ice, Elizabeth’s professional background includes an undergraduate degree in Communication Arts and Literature Teaching and a master’s in Strategic Communication Management. She spent 12 years with the Professional Skaters Association supporting education and accreditation for figure skating coaches, was the Sales and Marketing Director for the ice division at Riedell Skates, and is now an Office and Communications Manager in a local law firm.
Athlete safety is a priority in Elizabeth’s class. She regularly completes additional safety training such as the CDC Heads Up concussion course, annual SafeSport training, and First Aid/CPR.
All assistant coaches at Hockey Power & Edge also undergo annual SafeSport training, a background check, and continuing education requirements with either USA Hockey or U.S. Figure Skating.
